Kansas City Chiefs FAQ
When did the Kansas City Chiefs join the NFL?
The Kansas City Chiefs joined the NFL in 1970 when the AFL and NFL merged, but were actually founded in 1960 as the Dallas Texans. The team only moved to Kansas City and adopted the Chief name in 1963. They’ve had successes and failures, but not many championships. Their 2020 Super Bowl win was their first in 50 years.
Where do the Kansas City Chiefs play?
The Kansas City Chiefs play at Arrowhead Stadium, which is part of the Truman Sports Complex, where Major League Baseball’s Kansas City Royals play in a nearby stadium. Arrowhead Stadium is one of the NFL’s largest venues, seating 76,416 fans at maximum capacity, and although it was renovated in 2010, it was built back in time for the opening of the 1972 NFL season.
Where Should I Stay When I’m in Kansas City?
Kansas City is not a huge place, with only half a million residents. However, it is the largest city in the state! That being the case, you should definitely stay downtown if you’re visiting for longer than the day. Since the airport is almost thirty miles to the northwest, it wouldn’t make sense to get a hotel unless absolutely necessary. Kansas City, and the entire state of Missouri, is known for its BBQ and its breweries, and there are plenty of cultural elements to enjoy as well. So when you decide to scratch a Kansas City Chiefs game off of your bucket list, work with Bookseats.com to find yourself the best deals. We’ll arrange flights, hotels, tickets, and thanks to our partners in the travel and hotel industry, we’ll also be able to offer the best prices around.
Who Are the Main Rivals of the Kansas City Chiefs?
One of the most heated rivalries in the NFL is between the Chiefs and the now-defunct Oakland Raiders. In fact, in 2013 those two teams set a noise record during their game, clocking in at 137.5 decibels, or about as loud as a gunshot or siren. That record has since been eclipsed by the Seattle Seahawks stadium, but only barely, measured at 137.7 decibels. Arrowhead Stadium is known for its loud games, and in 1990 during a game against the Denver Broncos, the referees had to threaten the crowd with a team foul if they didn’t quiet down! The point is, when you’re in Kansas City, get ready for a loud and exciting match. Maybe even bring some earplugs, just in case.
